When World War Two ended, departing American soldiers parked their cars in the forest near Chatillon, Belgium. Intent on retrieving them in the future, the years passed and the cars remained where they’d been left almost seven decades earlier. The forest has grown up around them, their shells rusting into the earth.
I felt like my head was being repeatedly bashed in with something hard (I don’t know what but it made me feel dizzy) when reading this message.
Do you know why a big deal is made when celebrities say anything in support of Palestine? Because it’s such a rare sight. (And even then some of them delete their comments.)
You’ve got the largest media outlets grossly misreporting the situation in Gaza and Israel - the BBC are one of the worst offenders - and even some networks going as far as to show footage of Gaza and calling it Israel. The audacity of pro-Israelis/’neutrals’ complaining about the media..
Let’s be honest here - you’re not praying for Gaza when you’re also praying for those defending Israel’s war crimes. You can’t. The two are not mutually exclusive. Israel champions itself on genocide and colonisation.
Just like I asked in the last message, what do your priorities say about you when Israel has killed 600 Palestinians in the space ot two weeks - 25% of whom were children - but you’re concerned about the “good stuff that Israel does”?
At a time when they’re carrying out massacre after massacre in Gaza, instead of thinking about the ‘good’ Israel does (lord knows what), why are you not doing your best to challenge the Israeli government’s operation to eradicate Palestinians?
You’re not supposed to waste your time searching for the good in serial killers - you’re supposed to use your time to stop them.
[A]ll nationalism is not inherently bad (see ethnic nationalism), but when connected to the State, as it was in Nazi Germany and is in Zionist Israel, it propagates an irrational sense of superiority over other peoples and ways of life insofar that it is willing to use war and genocide — and all the dehumanization therein — to gain hegemony. [Zionism]… falls victim to the same pitfalls of any other nationalist tendencies which root themselves in the hierarchy of the State, that is, the willingness to use war and genocide — and all the dehumanization therein — to maintain hegemony. This is because it is the transformation of ethnic nationalism into nation-state nationalism, or the inseparability of the two.
We see the ramifications of this in Israel’s deliberate, systematized, state-sanctioned murder of Palestinians."
Yeah, um, what?
